Ludin Young Leadership Award nominees to be selected


The Jewish Federation of Florida’s Gulf Coast is now forming a nominating committee to select the 2021 young leadership Dr. Edward N. Ludin Award.

The award was established in 1994 by Arlene Ludin to honor the memory of her late husband to recognize a person between the ages of 25-45 who demonstrates significant leadership ability in the Jewish community and has the potential for greater leadership responsibility in the future.

All nominees for the award must demonstrate significant involvement and financial support for the Federation’s Annual Campaign. The winner of the award receives a stipend to be used within five years as a subsidy to attend a Jewish conference or experience of significance, such as the Jewish Federations of North America Washington Young Leadership Conference.

Past recipients of this prestigious award include: Craig Sher, Diane Sembler-Kamins, Eric Ludin, David Abelson, Margot Benstock, Barbara Sterensis, Ruth Davidson, Stephanie Stein, Mindy Solomon, Elizabeth Sembler, Barbara Baccari, Gregory Fox, Debbie Drucker Sokolov, Gail S. Warren, z”l, Todd Siegel, Jay Kaminsky, Adam Lopatin, Brian Rolfe, Jonathan Bowman, Melanie Bowman, Abby Sterensis, Randell Weinberg, Aliza Norstein, Rebecca Tieder, Dean Hershkowitz, and Lance Misztal.

“Looking at the list of past recipients, it is evident this is an excellent way to develop and groom young leaders for the future success of our community,” said Federation’s Executive Director Maxine Kaufman

The nominating committee, which will include some previous Ludin award winners, will meet to discuss and select this year’s award winner.

All those considered must have demonstrated significant involvement in the Jewish Federation’s Young Adult Division, now known as The Tribe, as well as a volunteer and financial supporter of the federation.

Announcement of the winner will be made at the Annual Meeting of the Jewish Federation, slated for June 2021.
