Genealogical Society

Lunch and learn social: The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay will meet on Sunday, Dec. 9 at noon for a pot luck luncheon, followed by a brief business meeting at 1:30 p.m. to elect new officers. The program will feature success stories and lessons learned by members in researching their families. The luncheon is free to members, $5 for non-members and guests. Reservations are required to ensure there will be ample food. RSVP by calling Sally Israel at (727) 343-1652. Monday Morning Links: Free sessions of Monday Morning Links are offered at the Jack Roth Center for Career Development at TampaBay-Job-Links, 4100 W. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 206, Tampa, from 9:30 - 11 a.m. The Dec. 10 topic is “Ways to Stay Relevant in an Ever-Changing Job Market.”

Open house: There will be a Job Links holiday Open House on Monday, Dec. 10 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Photoshoot: There will be a professional photoshoot for job seekers with Allie Serrano on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Young Adults

Bake your own pizza: The Bavarro’s pizzamakers will share the secrets of making the perfect pizza from scratch Sunday, Dec. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a #Gather event. Bavarro’s is located at 514 N. Franklin St. Tampa. The cost is $25 for members; $30 for guests. #Gather offers activities for those in their 20s, 30s and 40s of all faiths and backgrounds.

Vodka Latke: The Tampa Jewish Federation will host the annual Vodka Latke on Monday, Dec. 24 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at CAVU, 1601 N. Franklin St., just north of downtown Tampa. This is a party for Jewish singles and couples in their 20s, 30s and 40s. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres with gourmet latkes and desserts. The first two drinks are included with admission. There will also be a cash bar. Chic attire is preferred. Tickets are on sale at They are $45 until Dec. 21 and $54 at the door on the evening of the event.

Alzheimer’s caregiver group: Menorah Manor offers a support group meeting in the Samson Nursing Center at Menorah Manor, 255 59th St. N., St. Petersburg, on the first Thursday of the month from 3:30-5 p.m. For more information, call Gwen Kaldenberg at (727) 302-3750.

Caregiver support: On the first Thursday of the month a caregiver support group meets at Temple B’nai Israel, 1685 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater, from 10-11:30 a.m. This is an opportunity for caregivers to share their experiences and receive support. The meetings are sponsored by Empath Health.
