Federation names 3 to Leadership 2Gether program

Three young adult members of the local Jewish community have been selected by the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties to participate in a program aimed at building bonds between Americans and Israelis.

Aaron Slavin, James Lugo, and Hilary Heminis will be joining with other peers from the United States and Israel via online learning programs with the goals of exploring their Jewish identity and developing skills to become a Jewish leader in the community.

They will participate in a Leadership 2Gether program that includes peer-to-peer programs for young leaders, customized touring of Israel and hospitality in the Hadera-Eiron region of Israel. There will also be educational programming that connects teachers and students between the two communities.

The Leadership 2Gether program falls under the umbrella of the Jewish Agency’s Partnership 2Gether platform that connects 450 Jewish and Israeli communities in 46 city-to-city and region-to-region partnerships, engaging more than 350,000 participants each year in meaningful ongoing connections between Israelis and Jews around the world, through unique programs and one-on-one encounters.

Partnership 2Gether creates relationships between the people of the Hadera- Eiron region in Israel and 10 southeastern US communities, including the Pinellas/ Pasco Federation community.

Leadership 2Gether is geared for young professionals, and like the overall Partnership 2Gether program, creates a living bridge between 10 Southeastern Jewish communities and the Hadera-Eiron region.

The online program will begin this month and run for five months. Each participant is matched with an Israeli partner. Every three weeks they receive a new online module to work through with their partner. There will be three webinars during the course and conversations can take place during Face- Time, What’sApp, Skype, etc. There is no cost to participate in the online program.

Next March the group will come together for a meeting in Israel.

The three Pinellas/Pasco participants will receive a subsidized trip to Israel. The $365 participation fee per person will cover touring of the Partnership region of Hadera/Eiron as well as other parts of the region, all meals, excursions, events and home hospitality. Airfare is not included.

Those who were named to the Leadership 2Gether program expressed a desire to learn, meet new people, and the possibility to travel to Israel.
