Sonya Miller Women of Distinction awards April 29

Two dozen women will be honored this month with the prestigious Sonya Miller Women of Distinction Award for the time, energy and leadership they have provided to the local Jewish organization of their choice.

The event will be held on Sunday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m. at Temple Beth-El in St. Petersburg. It annually draws more than 300 men and women from across the region. Each local Jewish organization selects one woman to receive the award in recognition of their service.

Harriet Stein, a past recipient of the award and one of this year’s co-chairs of the event, said, “It’s wonderful to see the community come together and collectively honor the women who give their time and energy to their respective organizations.”

In honor of the late Sonya Miller, the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties announced last year that the much-loved annual Women of Distinction awards would be renamed the “Sonya Miller Women of Distinction Award.” This year’s event will feature a special art exhibit, Wonder Woman, on loan from the Israeli Consulate in Miami.

Attendees can view the exhibit and mingle before the ceremony. A light snack of tea sandwiches and pastries will be offered and all foods will be dairy and/or parve.
