Play is ‘just for laughs’

Just for Laughs Dinner Theatre in Largo is presenting the comedy, Social Security, a Broadway favorite, written by Blazing Saddles screenwriter Andrew Bergman. The show is running now through May 27.

This comedy surrounds a married couple who are art dealers. Their domestic tranquility is shattered upon the arrival of the wife’s goody-goody nerd of a sister, her uptight CPA husband, and her archetypal Jewish mother. They are there to try to save their college-student daughter from the horrors of living only for sex. The comic sparks really begin to fly when the mother hits it off with an elderly minimalist artist who is the art dealers’ best client.

Produced and directed by Toby Manion, in cooperation with Samuel French, the seasoned cast features: Brianna Anderson, Barbara Anthony, Bill Henricks, Dorothy Hershman, David Jankiewicz and Joseph Alan Johnson.

Show days and times are: Thursday, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.; Friday, at 4 p.m.; Saturday, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and Sunday, at 4 p.m.

The theatre is located at Havana Harry’s, 1999 Starkey Road, Largo.

For tickets, call the theater at (727) 466- 6546. Reservations are suggested. Tickets are $36, which includes a Cuban and American style buffet, show and sales tax.
