Bar/Bat Mitzvahs

Avi Nissim Reich

Avi Nissim Reich, son of Karen and Cary Reich of Seminole, will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday, April 14 at Congregation B’nai Israel in St. Petersburg.

A seventh-grade student at Madeira Beach Fundamental School, Avi is in the gifted program. He is a member of the school’s concert and jazz bands, playing the French horn and drums. He is also a member of the Pinellas All County Band and was recently invited to join the Pinellas Youth Philharmonic.

Active in sports, Avi enjoys fencing, basketball and golf and has played for the past eight years with US Kids, Greater Tampa Junior Golf Association and the First Tee of St. Petersburg. A member of Kadima, he is serving as its co-president, and is Baal Tekiah for Junior Congregation at Congregation B’nai Israel. Avi also enjoys being a camper in the summer at Camp Ramah Darom where he has attended for the last five years.

For his mitzvah project, Avi is spending time at the Mentoring Center of the First Tee, helping younger children learn math, science and strong study habits. He is also holding a golf marathon with proceeds going to support the First Tee mission.

Karen and Cary Reich will host a reception at the Bayou Club on Saturday evening, April 14.

Special guests will include family and friends from New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, Oregon, Washington D.C., Texas, California, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, South Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, Canada, France and Israel.
