For the 11th year, Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services is collecting school supplies for students in kindergarten through high school and home supplies for needy families.

“Through the generosity of the community, Gulf Coast has been able to provide school supplies to over 400 local children. In addition to starting the school year with a new backpack and needed school items, we can help replenish supplies for students during the year,” said Jewish Family Services Senior Director Cindy Minetti.

Among those the school supply drives helps are middle school-age children within Violence Prevention and Refugee Services program.

Gulf Coast encourages students and local organizations to gather backpacks and supplies, making it a fun community service activity. In addition to gathering donations, students and groups are welcome to come in and help stock the shelves.

“Our supplies are very low this year,” said Gail Allen, Family Support Services Coordinator.

Items needed include: backpacks (no wheels), notebook paper, markers, colored pencils, folders, zippered pencil cases, binders, calculators, baggies, hand sanitizer and facial tissue. Gift cards are always welcome. Donors should indicate “school supplies” on any checks sent.

The agency will also be collecting needed home supplies, such as paper towels, toilet paper, brooms/ mops, and spray cleaners.

Donations must be delivered by July 21 in order to sort and distribute the supplies before school starts.

Mail checks/gift cards or drop items off at Gulf Coast JFCS, 14041 Icot Blvd Clearwater. For more information, contact Allen at (727) 479-1806 or
