Israeli romantic comedy to open locally


Poster for “The Wedding Plan” Poster for “The Wedding Plan” The Wedding Plan, an Israeli romantic comedy, is scheduled to open locally May 26.

A poignant and funny romantic comedy about love, marriage and faith, the film is in Hebrew with English subtitles. Rama Burshtein, the writer and director of the film, won the Israeli equivalent of the Academy Awards for best screen play as did Noa Kooler for best actress.

At 32, Michal, an Orthodox woman, is blindsided by her fianc√©’s decision to call off the wedding with only a month’s notice. Unwilling to return to single life, Michal decides to put her trust in fate and faith and continue with her wedding plans, believing Mr. Right will appear by her chosen date. She books a venue, sends out invitations buys a wedding dress and goes on a month-long search for a spouse. As the day of the ceremony grows closer and no suitor appears, Michal puts everything on the line to find happiness.
