Vegetarian advocate to speak at Ahavat Shalom
Jeffrey Cohan, CEO of JewishVeg.org, will give two presentations at Temple Ahavat Shalom in Palm Harbor on the benefits of plant-based diets – one during the Friday, April 28 Shabbat services at 7:30 p.m. and another in the social hall on Sunday, April 30 at 9:30 a.m.
Cohan will speak on “learning how to improve your own health, the health of the planet as well as creating a kinder and more compassionate world - all in keeping with Judaism’s highest values.”
JewishVeg.org is a national organization that encourages and helps Jews to embrace plant-based diets an expression of the Jewish values of compassion for animals, concern for health and care for the environment. Cohen is the author of The Beet-Eating Heeb, a blog on the theology of veganism. Prior to joining JewishVeg, he worked in print and broadcast journalism in four states and three Latin American countries. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UC Berkeley and his master’s in public management from Carnegie Mellon.
