Women’s Community Seder set for March 30

The 19th annual Women’s Community Seder, with a theme this year of “Celebrating Community” will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom in Clearwater.

As in years past, this popular Seder is expected to draw more than 200 women from Pinellas and Pasco counties.

This year’s event will focus on the organizations and women that make the local community great. The leaders of the program will be Rabbi Danielle Upbin from Congregation Beth Shalom, Cantorial Soloist Laura Berkson from Temple B’nai Israel, guitarist Eve Alman Goldstein from Temple Ahavat Shalom and violinist Rebecca Zapen. Cantorial Soloist Lily Lucey will be traveling from her new home in New Jersey back to Clearwater to join the group as well.

A specially prepared Women’s Community Seder Haggadah will be used. It includes different readings and poems highlighting women’s contributions throughout the generations to Judasim.

Sponsors of the program include Menorah Manor; Lylah, North Pinellas, Yachad and St. Petersburg chapters of Hadassah; Jewish Women International and the Sisterhoods of Congregation Beth Shalom in Clearwater, Temple B’nai Israel in Clearwater, Temple Ahavat Shalom in Palm Harbor, Congregation B’nai Israel in St Petersburg and Temple B’nai Emmunah in Tarpon Springs.

The program, which began in 1998 with 50 attendees, sells out fast so reservations should be made as soon as possible. The cost is $26 prior to March 15 and $30 after that date.

For reservations and information on how to make payment, call the Congregation Beth Shalom at (727) 531-1418. Beth Shalom is located at 1235 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater.
