Lecture series on Israel and Palestinian conflict begins Feb. 9

A series of presentations on “Jewish Values and the Israeli & Palestinian Conflict will be offered in 12 sessions on most Thursdays from Feb. 9 through May 25 at Temple Beth-El in St. Petersburg.

These are part of the Hartman Institute’s iEngage learning series and are offered in collaboration between Temple Beth-El, Congregation B’nai Israel of St. Petersburg and the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties

Participants will discover how Jewish narratives about Israel and the complex meanings of peace in the Jewish tradition animate one’s attitude toward this conflict. This video lecture series brings together a team of scholars and intellectuals who specialize in areas such as Jewish thought, political theory and international law and are leading forces in rethinking the meanings and significance of Zionism and Israel and communicating these ideas to Jews worldwide.

The presentations, led by Rabbi Michael Torop of Temple Beth-El, are free but those planning to attend must RSVP and commit to attend a majority of the sessions. The dates for the presentations are on Thursdays, Feb. 9, 16 and 23, March 9, 23 and 30, April 13, 20 and 27 and May 11, 18 and 25 from 7-9 p.m.

Temple Beth-El is at 400 S. Pasadena Ave. RSVP to
