PJ Library Hanukkah events added throughout Pinellas

With holiday events happening all around town, the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties has found yet one more way to make Hanukkah activities accessible to more people by bringing kid-friendly PJ Library celebrations to neighborhood meeting places.

“This is a wonderful way to reach out to members of our community who may not know that the Federation is here, and has great things like the PJ Library to offer,” said Maxine Kaufman, director of Arts and Culture at the Federation.

Each event will have food, the spinning of the dreidel and special guests along with storytime featuring a PJ Library Hanukkah story. Each child will receive a Hanukkah gift, courtesy of the Jewish Federation.

Events will be held:

• Saturday, Dec. 10 from noon - 4 p.m. at Fresh Market, 2900 Fourth St. N., St. Petersburg.

• Thursday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. at Safety Harbor Public Library, 101 Second St. N., Safety Harbor.

• Thursday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. at Palm Harbor Public Library, 2330 Nebraska Ave., Palm Harbor.

More locations are expected to be added and will be listed on the community calendar (www.jewishpinellas.org/calendar) when the events are confirmed.

“I applaud our libraries for making their spaces another outlet that honors and celebrates the Jewish community,” said Emilie Socash, Federation executive director.

In addition, the Safety Harbor and Palm Harbor libraries are adding PJ Library books to their collection so readers can learn about Hanukkah, Shabbat, Purim, Passover and more, year round.

The PJ Library (for ages 6 months through 8 years) and PJ Our Way (ages 9-11) are programs of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties, made possible by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, offering free Jewish books monthly to kids across the region. Signing up children, whether your own or someone else’s, can be done by visiting www.jewishpinellas.org.
