Original comedy seeks to drive home sensitive issue for seniors

Linda Goldman wrote the play, which will be performed by the SAGES theater troupe. Linda Goldman wrote the play, which will be performed by the SAGES theater troupe. A new comedy, The Deal Maker, will debut at the Temple B’nai Israel stage in Clearwater on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17-18.

The play, written by Temple B’nai Israel congregant Linda Goldman, is a production of the Senior Actors Guild & Education Services ( SAGES) and addresses the question: Is it time to pry the car keys out of dad’s tight grasp?

The play, which has elements of comedy, pathos, and unexpected situations, stars Stephan Alpert, artistic director of SAGES. Alpert has been a professional actor with roles on stage, film and soap opera including the soap One Life to Live.

The group features actors of all ages in fun plays to stimulate discussion on issues faced by older Americans. This is SAGES’ third production.

The first performance of The Deal Maker will be on Saturday, Dec. 17. Doors open at 7 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres. Curtain time is 7:45 p.m. and the cost is $20.

A matinee performance will be on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. with tickets at $15.
