Chase the Dreidel 5K run, buffet, auction and kids activities set for Dec. 4 in St. Pete

Chase a giant dreidel down the streets of St. Petersburg and the Pinellas Trail on a professionally-timed 5K course on Sunday, Dec. 4, beginning at 4 p.m.

Participants can run, walk or stroll the police secured course, which begins and ends at Congregation B’nai Israel, 300 58th St. N., St. Petersburg, which is hosting the second annual Chase the Dreidel event.

Open to all, the festivities run from 4-7 p.m. and also will include a fun run for children under age 11 and a first-ever Diaper Dreidel Dash for pre-walkers. Free activities start at 4 p.m. and include a supervised bounce house, crafts and storytelling.

A post-race party will feature a buffet of potato latkes and sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts). The buffet is included in event registration and vouchers for non-racers to take part in the buffet are available.

The cost is $25 for race participants who sign up by Dec. 3, or $36 on the day of the race. Awards will be presented to top finishers. Those who register by Nov. 27 receive a T-shirt and a swag bag.

The event includes free off-street parking.

In addition, items from the “Bid and Buy with CBI” online auction will be displayed and final bids accepted at the Chase the Dreidel event. Items for sale include art, crafts, Judaica, gift certificates, event tickets, sports memorabilia and collectibles. The auction is currently underway online at Donations are tax-deductible.
