Suds in the sukkah: The Men’s Club will hold its annual brotherly gathering with hotdogs and beer in the synagogue’s sukkah on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m. RSVP to

Sukkot Dinner: Following Shabbat services on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m., there will be a family Sukkot Got Shabbat? dinner. The cost is $20 for adults, and free for all children. For more information, contact RSVP by Oct. 14 to reserve your spot at the table.

Children’s services: Children of all ages experience Shabbat as the junior daveners pray and the younger kids enjoy songs, stories and snacks on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m., followed by kiddush lunch.

Shemini Atzeret and Yizkor: There will be an Erev Shemini Atzeret service on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. and on Monday, Oct. 24, Shemini Atzeret services will include a Yizkor memorial service and memorial plaques dedication at 9 a.m.

Simchat Torah: An Erev Simchat Torah service including Torah procession will be on Monday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. The service will include a festive youth celebration.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, beginning at 9 a.m., there will be a Simchat Torah service at which three congregants will be honored as the congregation’s Hatanei Hatorah in recognition of their volunteerism:

Ricki Lewis, (Kallah Torah), serves on the board of the synagogue, acting as its liaison with the religious school and preschool. She also is on the board of the Women’s League and regularly prepares food with the Catering Committee.

Laurie Slomka Reiskind, (Kallah Bereshit), is past president of the congregation and continues to serve in leadership positions at the synagogue. She also is a longtime Hadassah board member.

Joanne Luski, (Kallah Maftir), has served in various volunteer capacities at B’nai Israel during the past 39 years including as Women’s League Torah Fund Vice President. She was a founding director of the Pinellas County Jewish Day School and served as president of the PTSA at St. Petersburg High School.

Talmud made easy: Steve Wein will instruct a Talmudic study class on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. in the library. All materials are provided. The class involves both textual analysis and discussion and is open to all.
