Eisenhower grandson to be keynote speaker for museum 25th anniversary

David Eisenhower David Eisenhower

David Eisenhower will be the keynote speaker for To Life, the Florida Holocaust Museum’s 25th Anniversary celebration.

Eisenhower will accept a posthumous award on behalf of his grandfather, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was the U.S. commander of the European theater in World War II.

Eisenhower is the director of the Institute for Public Service at the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a New York Times’best-selling author and a Pulitzer finalist for his book, Eisenhower: at War. He is the only grandson of President Eisenhower and son-in-law to President Richard Nixon.

The award will be given to honor the role the then-Gen. Eisenhower played in liberating the Nazi concentration camps and documenting what was discovered to ensure that the Holocaust could not be denied or forgotten. He ordered the filming and photographing of the camps as they were liberated and personally visited as many as possible to be a witness to what was found.

The annual To Life event provides the backbone of funding for the museum’s educational programs.

The celebration will be on Sat., Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Vinoy Renaissance in St. Petersburg. For more information on sponsorships or to purchase tickets, visit or call (727) 820-0100.
