Temple B’nai Israel Clearwater

Taking the stage: The Senior Actors Guild & Education Services (SAGES), a new acting troupe, will perform Get in the Game on Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 31 at 2 p.m. on stage in the Temple B’nai Israel social hall. The play is a comedy with a “don’t let life pass you by” theme. The performance will benefit the temple, located at 1685 S. Belcher Road in Clearwater. The cost is $20 for the Saturday performance,which includes hors d’oeuvres and live piano musical overture and intermission. The matinee performance on Sunday is $15. Open house: The temple’s religious school will hold an open house on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. For those who have not yet committed, join on opening day, meet the teachers and check out the facility.

Special service: There will be a special Shabbat service on Friday, Aug. 26. At 5:30 p.m. there will be a Tot Shabbat with dinner to follow. The cost of the dinner is $10 per adult. Kids under age 12 eat for free. At 6:15 p.m. there will be a wine and cheese reception for new and prospective members, and 7:30 p.m. there will be a Friday Night Live and Simcha Shabbat service. Reservations are required for dinner. To RSVP, call the temple office at (727) 531-5829.

Friendship Club: On Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. the Friendship Club meets at the synagogue to play mah jongg, Mexican train dominoes or bridge with active seniors. Coffee and cake is served.

Pick a book: The Book Bunch group is entertaining suggestions for next year’s reading selections. Contact IrisLshalit@juno.com with fiction or non-fictional works that will result in lively discussion. The group will meet next on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
