Dementia expert to speak on caregiving

Menorah Manor will host a free caregiving seminar led by Teepa Snow, a nationally recognized educator on dementia, on Thursday, July 7.

The event will focus on helping professionals and caregivers better understand dementia. The seminar will be held at the Marion and Bernard L. Samson Nursing Center, 255 59th St. N., St. Petersburg.

The program will be split into a morning session from 9 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session from 1-4 p.m., with light refreshments provided. It is being cosponsored by health service companies Senior Helpers and Optum.

As a registered occupational therapist with more than 30 years of experience in geriatrics, Snow previously served as the education director and lead trainer for the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. She is a fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association and has received national recognition for her expertise in geriatrics, dementia care and staff training. Her specialized techniques are used around the world by families and professionals dealing with dementia.
