Job well done…

Ben Mason, 14, recently completed his Eagle Scout Project at Temple B`nai Israel in Clearwater, where he has been a member since preschool. Mason came up with the idea for an outdoor classroom, then designed and created it behind the temple, with the encouragement of religious director Dani Gamson and the temple staff. The project consists of four large benches, creating a circular learning space for about 20 people. He also built a tree bench that surrounds a large oak tree and he refurbished 5 picnic tables that were in need of repair. With encouragement from Gamson, Ben researched and named the project Eshed which means “outdoor awakening.” He raised more than $1,300 for his project through three car washes and donations. Ben is a member of Boy Scout Troop 468 and was assisted by more than 30 scouts and parents including his own, Ken and Andrea Mason.
