Chabad brings back popular comedian for Dec. 5 performance

Marc Weiner Marc Weiner Comedian Marc Weiner will return to the Chabad Jewish Center of St. Petersburg for the third time on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to his comedic show titled “Laugh- ter before Lights,” the evening will include a light buffet and desserts.

Weiner made his national network television debut as a regular on Saturday Night Live in 1980. He created and hosted the popular daily children’s show on Nickelodeon, Weinerville, which ran from 1993 to 1996. In addition, he created and starred in a series of educational shorts for Nick Jr. called Wordville with Marc Weiner and Friends. He has also provided the voices on Dora The Explorer for “Map,” “Swiper” and the “Pirate Parrot.”

A native of Queens, NY, Weiner began his show business career as a street performer in Boston. From 1977 through 1979 Weiner created smiles on the streets of New York City, where he performed outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He then worked as an improv comic who performed at Comic Strip Live, Catch A Rising Star, and The Comedy Cellar. He is noted for creating and performing with his unique “head puppets” which consist of a human sized head and a small (in comparison) puppet body.
