Temple B’nai Israel Clearwater

Chai Mitzvah course: A new course, Chai Mitzvah, has begun and will continue on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. through the spring. This is an internationally published curriculum that brings together literature, weekly Torah portions and commentary, social action and ritual and spiritual practices. Students will attend monthly group learning sessions, pick an independent study topic for the year, participate in ritual/spiritual practice during the year, choose a social action activity and celebrate the journey.

Bible study: Classes in Bible study began earlier this month and will continue on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. with Rabbi Daniel Trieser.

Shabbat learners minyan: Rabbi Trieser and Cantor Laura Berkson will explore the themes, meaning and music of Jewish prayer on Saturday morning once a month through April. The next meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the chapel. This is free and open to all ages.

Cinema café: On Sunday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m., there will be a light lunch and a showing of the movie Sarah’s Key, with a discussion on reactions to the 1942 roundup of French Jews. This event is open to temple members and guests. To RSVP, contact Cal Simon at dad24hrs@tampabay.rr.com.

Playtime: A Kef l’Yeladim Play Date session is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 from 4-6 p.m. for preschool age children. The play date location has not yet been determined, so call the temple for more information. New families always welcome. Cost for the year for the program is $18 for temple members and $36 for non-members.

Choir members sought: Those who would like to participate in the temple choir should contact Cantor Berkson, who will teach classes to those interested. Call the temple for more information.
