Helping hands

Rabbi Jacob Luski of Congregation B’nai Israel in St. Petersburg will be one of three people to receive a Good Help Award for the work they do for the benefit of senior care in the Tampa Bay area. The awards will be presented by the Bon Secours Health System, a Catholic Church organization that provides “Good Help to Those in need, especially the poor and dying.” Bon Secours is a French term that means Good Help. The other award recipients will be Pinellas County Commissioner Karen Seel and Bill Tapp, senior managing director of CBIZ MHM, LLC, an accounting/insurance/human resources company with local offices. The awards presentation will be at a Celebrate the Graceful Art of Senior Care event on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Museum of Fine Art, 255 Beach Drive, St. Petersburg. The event will include cocktails and dinner.

Award winner

Eckerd College has honored Joan O. Epstein with the Grover C. Wrenn Award for Leadership and Service to General Education. The award recognizes faculty who display a range of qualities, including “A wholesome and critical enthusiasm for inquiry and reflection that will extend beyond the period of formal education.” Epstein, a music professor, is a member of Congregation B’nai Israel in St Petersburg and sings in the congregational choir.
