Reader claims article shows paper’s lack of support for Israel

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I was greatly disturbed by two articles in the January 30th edition. These similar articles show disturbing lack of support for Israel by your staff, and obvious bias towards Obama’s questionable foreign policy. This is the kind of reporting I expect to see from Al Jazeera, not the Jewish Press. The front-page headline of the first article by Ron Kampeas was “Netanyahu planned speech roils pro- Israel community.” Really?

If Israeli and American Jews have something to be roiled about, it’s how the Administration has handled Iran and treated it’s longstanding ally, Israel. It’s a miracle there are any American Jews who still support this president. Mr. Kampeas seems more concerned about frivolous protocol than the sobering reality of a nuclear-armed Iran or the bizarre policies the President supports.

The second article, by Washington JTA, was titled “Netanyahu yet to ‘rebut’ value of Iran talks.” It’s breathtaking that such a headline could actually appear in the Jewish Press. Does the staff think it also necessary to rebut the policies of Boko Haram or ISIL as they slaughter people? The article implies legitimacy for Iran, a known sponsor of terrorism who’s leaders openly call for the destruction of Israel. The President suggests we should trust Iran to halt their nuclear weapons program. Does this insanity really need rebuttal?

The general media (and increasingly our society) is awash in anti- Israel and anti-Jewish propaganda. I read your paper with an expectation that my Jewish sensibilities won’t be insulted. Since it appears your staff no longer supports pro- Israel policies, why not just change the name to the “Obama Press.”
