The play is a romantic comedy of misunderstandings, miscommunication and mixed-faith families. It was written by Jason Odell Williams for his Israeli wife.

Actor Georgina McKee studied Hebrew for six months to play the role of Ayelet, an Israeli woman dragged on a U.S. road trip by her grandmother, who’s searching for the lost love of her youth. Snowed in on Christmas Eve with a translator who’s trying to remember his bar mitzvah Hebrew, they create a celebration that’s joyful and heartwrenching.

Dr. H. Roy Kaplan, former longtime head of the National Conference of Community and Justice Tampa Bay and professor in USF’s Department of Africana Studies, will lead an audience discussion after the Sunday, Dec. 14 performance.

Among the many awards Kaplan has received, he was named a “National Hero of Education” by the U.S. Department of Education for his multi-cultural work in Florida schools.

Tickets are $30, or $15 for students and seniors. They are available at or (813) 374-2416. The theater is at 1120 E Kennedy Blvd, Tampa.
