Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco calls for board of director nominees

The Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties is seeking nominations to its Board of Directors. Any member of Jewish community living in Pinellas or Pasco Counties who supports the Federation’s annual campaign is eligible for nomination.

“For those who want to help determine the direction, goals and strategies of the Jewish Federation, this is an excellent opportunity to get engaged and truly make a difference,” said Federation Executive Director Mark Segel. “We are prepared to take bold, new actions to ensure that our Jewish community grows and thrives.”

Those wishing to serve on the Federation’s board are expected to play an active role in fundraising, strategic planning, volunteer engagement, and event planning. The board meets once a month most months of the year.

Federation President Karen Reich said, “The challenges we face are different today than just a few years ago. We need fresh ideas and an energetic approach to take the organization and the community to the next level. I strongly encourage the best and brightest to step up and be part of the change.”

An indeterminate number of board positions are open for the coming fiscal year, which begins July 1. The board is currently composed of 15 members, but not all are expected to remain, and the board may have as many as 21 members.

The Nominating Committee, chaired by Immediate Past President Sheldon Scheinert, will approve a slate of directors.

Per the Federation’s by-laws, the new directors will be voted on by the Leadership Council, which is made up of the leaders of nearly every Jewish organization in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. In turn, the new board will elect the Federation officers.

Nominations may be submitted by contacting Segel at marksegel@jewishpinellas.org or by calling (727) 530-3223.

The deadline for nominations is June 3 and elections will be held on June 10.
