More than 250 people gathered Sunday, April 13 to celebrate the start of a $3.5 million renovation project for Temple B’nai Israel in Clearwater.

The outdoor ceremony included speeches by Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos and Pinellas County Commissioner Karen Seel. Leadership from the congregation stepped up with shovels and hard hats for a symbolic groundbreaking. With “Preserving Our Future” the campaign’s moniker and its goal, all in attendance were invited to inscribe a small stone to be buried in the foundation of the new sanctuary and thereby be linked to all who will follow in the future.
