MARTIN MILTON BACHNER, 98, of Clearwater, died March 4. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, he was a 35-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department, working as a Marine Engineer. Survivors include his daughters; Karen Bachner, Ann Allen and Mary Winstead. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, St. Petersburg Chapel)

SOPHIA KARAS, 105, of Seminole, died March 11. Born in Indianapolis, she was a retired retail office manager. Survivors include her daughters; Charna Bogdany and Barbara Berenson; six grandchildren. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, St. Petersburg Chapel)

MAJORIE SCHWARTZ, 80, of Treasure Island, died Feb. 22. Born in Point Pleasant, NJ, she was a retail storeowner. Survivors include her husband, Phil Schwartz; son, Carl Schwartz; brother, Bruce Seyfried. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, St. Petersburg Chapel)

SYDNEY WEISS, 86, of Clearwater, died March 4. Born in Philadelphia, he worked for many years as a high school principal. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lillian “Bibby”; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Michael Picker and Rhonda Weiss and John Harada; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Leslie Weiss; sister, Beatrice Kellman; sister-in-law, Thelma Weiss; four grandchildren.
