Jewish Heritage Day planned at Trop

The fourth annual Jewish Heritage Day will be held Sunday, April 6 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg when the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Texas Rangers. The event is being supported by the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties and the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee.

“This is an event that the Suncoast JCC used to put on and we wanted to continue it. It is an opportunity to bring the Jewish community together to enjoy a day of baseball and to strengthen the Jewish community,” said Mark Segel, executive director of the Pinellas/ Pasco Federation.

The gates will open at 11:40 a.m. and the first pitch is scheduled for 1:40 p.m.

Attendees are invited to come early and visit the Ted Williams’ Baseball History Museum inside the Trop, including the special area dedicated to Jews in baseball. The Jews in baseball exhibit, put together with assistance of Brandeis University, has been on display for several years.

Press Level seats are available at $25 for groups of 10 or more when purchased at one time, and $35 for individuals. Retail price of these tickets is $50. Attendees also will receive a Rays Jewish Heritage Day Tshirt (at right), available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A link to purchase tickets can be found at www.jewishpinellas.org.

For more information, call the Jewish Federation at (727) 530-3223.
