Federation sponsors new networking, social group

L’Chaim Connection is a new initiative of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties intended to “bring our community together and create connections that add l’chaim to your life.”

The group, which plans on meeting monthly, is for people who are “40-something to 60-ish.” And will offer networking and social events for professionals to connect with the Jewish community.

The motto of the L’Chaim Connection is:

• L’Chaim is social

• L’Chaim is business

• L’Chaim is tradition

The first networking dinner was held at the Bascom Chop House on Jan. 26.

The group’s first social event, Rock-The-Night, was planned for Feb. 15 at Ferg’s in downtown St. Petersburg, for an evening of listening and dancing to the music of Doc Rock, a local rock band of Jewish doctors and professionals. The response to this concept has been extremely positive, according to organizers. Members are encouraged to submit their suggestions for events, and the group determines the focus and direction.

Since L’Chaim is not a fund-raising or funded group, all activities are priced individually and at the participant’s expense.

Future activities include Movies & More Night, a group outing to the Tampa Bay Jewish Film Festival in March; theater night at the American Stage In The Park presentation of The Wiz in April; and Yom Ha’Atzmaut in May, followed by another business Networkin’ Night.

Interested couples and singles can find more information on the Jewish Federation website,, the L’Chaim Facebook page, or by calling the Federation office at (727) 530-3223.
