Multi-faith programs offered at Tampa’s Franciscan Center

The Franciscan Center in Tampa is offering a series of multi-faith programs.

A series of classes, “Daughters of Abraham,” began in January and continues Feb. 11, March 11 and April 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. This program welcomes women of Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths who would like to explore their faiths through books, films and poetry. Instructors will use Tents of Abraham to facilitate conversation. The book is available on The cost is $10 per session.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., a lunch and learn program called “Tools for Learning – World Religions” will be presented by Linda Taggart. This is a general introduction to the topic and terminology of world religions, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism. Participants will learn to describe and explain each of these five major world religions in terms of religious ideals, practices and institutions.

This seminar is intended to provide educational tools that support respectful, reciprocal and constructive interfaith education and dialogue. The cost is $20 and includes lunch. RSVP by Feb. 20 to reserve seating.
