Twice as proud…

If it is good to have a doctor in the family, it’s twice as good to have two. Proud parents Dr. David and Mary Jo Baras of St. Petersburg are thrilled that daughter Lauren received her MD degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in May and will be doing her internal medicine residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Meanwhile, oldest daughter Jacqueline Baras- Shreibati, MD, finishes her internal medicine residency this month at Stanford and will be doing a cardiology fellowship at Stanford University.

The best, bar none…

Congratulations to my husband, Eric Ludin, Esq, for being elected president of the St. Petersburg Bar Foundation. He practices law in the firm of Tucker and Ludin, PA.

Barry Cohen Barry Cohen Champion for children…

New Port Richey resident Barry Cohen was recently honored by Molina Healthcare of Florida for his volunteer service and advocacy at the fourth annual Community Champions Awards event in Davie, FL. Seventeen years ago, Cohen founded the Pasco Association for Challenged Kids, a non-profit that runs a summer camp for kids with disabilities in Pasco County. Each year, Cohen works tirelessly to raise enough enrollment funds for the children to attend the camp. “Barry is an extraordinary example of someone who truly cares about improving the lives of children,” says David Pollack, president of Molina.

Simply outstanding…

The kudos just keep coming for Jeremy Reiskind, who was featured last month as one of the state’s top student athletes. Jeremy, who graduated from Shorecrest Preparatory School on his 18th birthday, May 19, was named Outstanding Senior of the Class of 2013. One of the honors of being named Outstanding Senior is that he will return to campus in 2023 and deliver the Commencement address to those now in second grade. Proud parents are Laurie (who graduated from Shorecrest “just” 30 years before) and Marc Reiskind of St. Petersburg. Kvelling grandparents are Sandy and Mike Slomka of St. Petersburg and Woody and Arlene Reiskind of New York. P.S. I’d love to hear from more graduating high school students and find out about your plans for the future. Send information and photos to: Sincerely Yours, P.O.
