26th Annual Sweetheart’s Day Flower Sale Fundraiser
This February marks the 26th Annual Sweetheart’s Day Flower Sale at Menorah Manor. Bernard L. Samson Nursing Center residents will work alongside Menorah Manor volunteers and staff to put together handmade bouquets made of fresh carnations. Orders for flowers at $1 a piece were all in to Menorah Manor’s therapeutic recreation department by February 8.
Led by Pauline Teckler, resident council president, and overseen by Menorah Manor’s therapeutic recreation department, the residents raise approximately $2,000 a year that is later used for charitable giving to the organization of their choice.
In addition to being a way for residents to give back to the community at large, the Sweetheart’s Day Flower Sale provides family members, residents, staff and volunteers with a special way to show how much they care and give much deserved appreciation.
Throughout the past 26 years of this heartwarming fundraiser, the Resident Council has donated thousands of dollars to charities of their choice including the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, the Gail S. Warren Volunteer Education Fund, American Magen David for Israel, Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, Hadassah, and the Jewish National Fund.
By mid February over 2000 flowers will fill our buildings with the feelings of love and goodwill that they always bring!
