Alexis Kelly, president of the Seminole High School Jewish Student Association, for serving as student coordinator of an effort to collect toys for the school’s Toys for Tots drive. Alexis, a senior, is the daughter of Deborah Kelly. The school collected more than 400 toys and the Jewish Student Association awarded the first-place class with a bagel breakfast. This is the second year Alexis had participated in the drive. She is also president of Beefy, Temple Beth-El’s youth group.

Former Clearwater resident Lauren Berger, dubbed “The Intern Queen” after completing 15 internships during her college career, is creating a lot of buzz with her website, internqueen.com and new book, All Work No Pay, to help students connect with internships and learn how to make the most of them. (Random House/Ten Speed). Lauren, daughter of Ira and Sherry Berger who still reside here, is scheduled to be at the Barnes and Noble in Clearwater on Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. for a book signing and talk. She was recently featured on The Today Show, Fox & Friends, and Bloomberg.com, plus is touring college campuses. Lauren currently resides in Los Angeles.
