200 families go shopping for Chanukah gifts at Gulf Coast JF&CS ‘store’
(L-R) Susan LaPlante and sister Jackie Kanner, Chanukah Gift Store chair, prepare gifts in the shop. For one week in December, the Jewish Community Services Department of Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, created a unique shopping experience for Jewish families in need during the Chanukah holiday.
More than 200 qualified families were given the opportunity to “shop” in the gift store where over 3,000 donated items were available for selection.
Some very special items included in the shopping experience were gift cards for individuals unable to travel to the agency. A total of $2,400 in gift cards was donated by the “Friends of Gulf Coast.” This was a 38 percent increase in the gift card donations from last year.
