Genealogical Society
Genealogical seminar: The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay will offer a two-session seminar that will provide a foundation for beginners and an update for experienced researchers on Sundays, Feb. 12 and March 11 at 2 p.m. at Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater. Registration will be at 1:30 p.m. on both dates.
The seminar will focus on developing proper approaches and applying the necessary tools, techniques and short cuts to connect researchers with their ancestors. This seminar, led by Dr. Emil H. Isaacson, is an update of the presentation given two years ago. Isaacson has 28 years experience in genealogy and has researched his roots back seven.
The course is free to current paid-up members. A one-year family membership will be included in the $25 course fee for non-members.

Support group
Alzheimer’s caregivers: Menorah Manor’s Bresler Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Program offers a complimentary support group open to anyone in the community. This group meets in the Samson Nursing Center at Menorah Manor, 255 59th St. N., St. Petersburg, on the first Thursday of the month from 3:30-5 p.m. For more information, call Gwen Kaldenberg, MSW, director of the Bresler Program, at (727) 302- 3750.
Hadassah
Education Hernando Spring Chapter will have its annual Education Day symposium, “Living a Healthy Life after 60,” on Monday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Temple Beth David Jewish Center, 13158 Antelope Drive, Spring Hill. Requested donation is $15. Panel representatives are Crystal Holmes, Elder Resources; Robert Russano, Shine Area Coordinator; Susan Cuellan, Arthritis Association; and geriatric physician Dr. Ronald Gilberg. Mah jongg: The North Pinellas Chapter of Hadassah will hold a mah jongg traveling game on Monday, Jan. 23 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at a member’s home. Donation is $5. For location and more information, call Sharon Goldman at (727) 376-9998.
Needlecraft: The North Pinellas Chapter of Hadassah will hold the inaugural meeting of a needlecraft special interest group on Monday, Jan. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Temple Ahavat Shalom, 1575 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor. The group will meet monthly through April 3.
Game Day: The North Pinellas Chapter of Hadassah will hold play all sorts of games on Monday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Allegro, 1755 East Lake Road S. Cost is $18, which includes lunch, as well as coffee and muffins in the morning. RSVP by calling Sharon Goldman at (727) 376-9998.
Save the date: The St. Petersburg Chapter of Hadassah will hold a centennial gala on Sunday, March 4, with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. at the Isla del Sol Yacht and Country Club on the Pinellas Bayway.
Mad Hatters: Hadassah’s annual Mad Hatter luncheon and tea party will feature entertainment by The Illusions, a group of female impersonators, on Sunday, Jan. 22 at noon at Crescent Oaks Golf Club, 3300 Crescent Oaks Blvd., Tarpon Springs. There will be vendors, door prizes, a Chinese auction, a hat contest and a cash bar. A donation of $30 per person is requested. Proceeds will go to Hadassah’s Children at Risk Program.
