Jewish women race for breast cancer cure
Team Sharsheret on race day in 2009
Team Sharsheret Suncoast, a group of Jewish women helping to fight breast cancer, by participating in the annual Race for the Cure, is seeking participants for this year’s event.
Team Sharsheret Suncoast, now in its third year, is currenty training for the 11th Annual Florida Suncoast affiliate’s 5K Race for the Cure. As in previous years, the race will be held in Vinoy Park in downtown St. Petersburg on Saturday morning, Oct. 2.
Team members must register online or by mail by Sept.15 in order for all monies to be tallied into the Team Sharsheret Suncoast total. Anyone registering after that deadline can still walk and run with the team, but will be signed up as an individual.
To register for Team Sharsheret Suncoast, go to: www.komensuncoast. org.
Donations are also appreciated. Seventy-five percent of all monies raised in the race go to national research for finding a cure for breast cancer while the other 25 percent stays in the Tampa Bay community to fund grants and programs for the medically needy and under-served populations.
Any questions or concerns, contact the team’s co-captains, Jayne Weissman, (727) 381-2796 or jayrw49@tampabay.rr.com or Cindy Weisberg at (727) 865-9866 or weisverde@tampabay.rr.com.
