Fire destroys Shoah victims’ shoes
(JTA) — A fire at the Majdanek concentration camp has destroyed a barracks and thousands of prisoners’ shoes displayed on the site.
The cause of the Aug. 13 fire is believed to be an electrical fault. Majdanek, where the Nazis killed more than 360,000 people, is located in southeastern Poland.
The damage comes nearly three months after floods seriously damaged the Auschwitz concentration camp site.
