Lions of Judah get artsy
Lions of Judahs representing Pinellas, Pasco and Tampa enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, dessert and an artist’s talk: (L-R) Lili Kaufman, Toni Rinde, Bonnie Friedman, Bev Tannenbaum, Jeanie Abelson, Joyce Tawil.
Lions of Judah from Pinellas & Pasco Counties and Tampa gathered together at the Mindy Solomon Gallery in St. Petersburg for an educational and social event.
Featured artist Richard Heipp, whose exhibition was on display at the gallery, spoke about the inspiration for and philosophy of his “photocentric” airbrushed paintings.
Professor Heipp has taught painting at the University of Florida for more than 25 years, has had numerous solo exhibitions, and has been awarded commissions for 18 major art in public places projects through national competition or direct invitation.
Gallery owner Mindy Solomon is a Lion of Judah Endowment, meaning that her gift of at least $5,000 will continue in perpetuity. Long active in the Federation, she currently represents the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties on the National Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federations of North America.
Professor Richard Heipp explains his philosophy and the creative process behind his exhibition: “Alternative Universe.”
