25th Annual Volunteer Luncheon
In memory of Menorah Manor’s beloved, late volunteer director, Gail Warren, MSW, the first ever Gail S. Warren Volunteer Service Award was presented by her husband, Dr. Steven Warren. The recipient, Adele Morris, has been a volunteer at Menorah Manor for 15 years, is co-chair of the Guild Gift Shop, is a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. (L-R) Marilyn Sapperstein, Guild co-president; Dr. Steven Warren; Adele Morris, award recipient; Dotty Feinberg, Guild co-president.
Menorah Manor would not be what it is without the 25 years of love and dedication of its volunteers.
On Wednesday, April 21, 2010 the Menorah Manor Guild hosted the 25th Annual Volunteer Recognition and Guild Installation Luncheon which was chaired by Joan Redisch.
The Guild named the event, “You Light Up Our Lives!,” in order to show those recognized what their efforts have truly meant and continue to mean to the residents.
The Community Based Instruction Program through Boca Ciega High School offers students an opportunity to learn a variety of skills designed to assist their entry into the business world. Menorah Manor is proud to be a site for this valuable program and lucky to have help from these wonderful junior volunteers (L-R) Menorah Manor’s volunteer director, Bonnie Berman, MSW; group members Kelli Redman, Tempest Edwards, Stephen Carey, Deontae Rubin.
During the past year, the volunteers donated 15,044 hours of their time. They were recognized with plaques, gift certificates, flowers, award certificates, and of course, a lovely meal prepared by the talented Menorah Manor dietary staff. Needless to say, this “total” only reflects the volunteer hours recorded. There are countless more hours that are not formally recorded, like those of our dedicated trustees.
“The work that I do for Menorah Manor is the most gratifying community service that I’ve done in my entire life. Let’s always remember what we’re doing when we volunteer… we’re improving the quality of life for our seniors and educating our children. We’re teaching them by example how to treat each other,” stated Eric Ludin, Menorah Manor chair. Standing next to Eric is Sharyn Wittner the Menorah Manor Foundation chair.
