Museum photo exhibit to feature South Florida’s Cuban Jews

The community of Cuban Jews in South Florida will come to life this month in a large-scale photo exhibit at the Jewish Museum of Florida in Miami. The exhibit depicts this unique community going about their daily lives and celebrating Jewish holidays.

The Cuban Jewish community in South Florida began with the 1959 communist revolution in Cuba, when the Cuban Jews fled to begin new lives, and is flourishing today.

The photos, on view from April 27-Sept. 26, were taken by Miami photographer Randi Sidman- Moore, who conceived of the project more than a dozen years ago. It took five years to complete.

The Jewish Museum of Florida is located 301 Washington Ave. on Miami Beach. For information, call (305) 672-5044. The museum website is www.jewishmuseum. com
