April TIKVAH Talk to focus on ‘Families Apart’

Licensed Psychologist Jeremy S. Gaies, who is a certifi ed family mediator and parenting coordinator, will be featured at Tampa Jewish Family Services’ April 29 TIKVAH Talk program, sponsored by the TIKVAH Special Needs Program.

Gaies will speak on “Families Apart: Helping Children Cope Through Separation and Divorce.” The range of emotional and practical challenges faced by families coping with divorce or separation (including families separated by military deployment or by financial circumstances related to the recession) will be discussed. Special attention will be placed on the effects this has on children, including children with special needs. Approaches for helping children cope and helping parents co-parent through divorce or separation will be discussed.

TIKVAH Talk is scheduled for Thursday, April 29, from 7-9 p.m. at the Tampa Jewish Community Center. TIKVAH Talk is open to the community. A voluntary $5 donation is suggested. RSVPs are preferred but not required. Directions and other information are available at www.tjfs.org. For more information or to RSVP, contact Lydia Abrams at lydiaa@tjfs.org.
