Obituaries

MARVIN GOLDMAN, 90, of Tampa, died March 18. He was a founding member of Young Israel in Palm Harbor and an active member of the JCC of West Pasco. He was the principal of a Hebrew school on Long Island, NY and a decorated veteran of World War II. Survivors include his daughter, Ellen Sheridan, London, England; son, Dr. Stephen Goldman, New Port Richey; six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials to injured war veterans of the United States or Israel or a charity of ones choice. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)

HARVEY I. GOLDSTEIN, 73, of Clearwater, died March 11. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he worked in retail management. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a member of Temple Beth-El in St. Petersburg. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, David and Heather, and Steven; two daughters and son-in-law, Robin and Gary, and Angelina; three grandchildren. (David C. RUTH KLING, 101, of St. Petersburg, died March 4. She was born in New York City and worked as a supermarket manager. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dolores Diamond; two grandchildren and one great-grandson. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)

ROBERT LEVINE, 84, of Palm Harbor, died March 14. Born in New York City, he grew up in Brooklyn and later moved to Patchogue, Long Island. He was a veteran of World War II serving on the USS Arequipa in the Pacific Theatre. He later moved to Stamford, CT and opened a business in Fairfield, a marine and camping supply store, The Fairfield Trading Post. He moved to Florida in 1995 and was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, Clearwater, and the Men’s Club. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Blanche; his children, Judith, Ken and Gary; his brother, Herb Bergman; six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Congregation Beth Shalom or to Suncoast Hospice. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)

RUTH LUBELL, 78, of Safety Harbor, died Feb. 19. Born in New York City, she worked as a real estate sales agent. She moved to Florida in 1987 from Long Island, NY. Survivors include three sons, Steven and Richard, both of Safety Harbor and Glenn of Dunedin; brother, Ben Kuller, of Princeton Junction, NJ. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)

DR. ROBERT “ROBBIE” ROBBINS, 93, of St. Petersburg, died March 5. He was born in Gainesville and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended the University of Florida at 16 and graduated in 1936 with a Bachelor of Science and later a Doctorate in Organic Chemistry in 1951. He worked for the Holston Defense Corporation and later by the Tennessee Eastman Corporation as head of the Kodel Fiber Division and assistant to the president. He served as president of many organizations in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee, including the Kingport Rotary Club. He was also very active in St. Petersurg, serving on the boards of Congregation B’nai Israel and Menorah Manor along with being a member of B’nai Brith. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Teddi Robbins; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Chambers; seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Debra Sonenshine SOAR Program at Marcus JCC of Atlanta or Menorah Manor. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)

MYRON TANNENBAUM, MD, PhD, 79, of Clearwater, died Jan. 14. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from New York University with a B.S., M.S. and PhD in Biochemistry. He received his M.D. from Chicago Medical School and did his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. His specialty was Genitourinary Pathology especially the prostate. He worked in the Pathology and Urology Departments at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York. He came to the Bay Pines VA Pathology Department in 1990 and was also Professor of Pathology and Urology at the University of South Florida Medical School until his retirement in 2008. He was involved in studies showing the linkage between lung cancer and cigarette smoking, utilization of PAS for prostate cancer, using the grading systems for prostate cancer and pioneered a measurement technique to determine size of prostatic nuclei. He published “Urologic Pathology: The Prostate, and Diagnostic Atlas of Genitourinary Pathology.” Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sheila; two daughters, Dr. Phoebe Ochman and Ginay Pinzer; three grandchildren. JEFFREY TOOP, 51, died March 12. He was born in Bronx, NY and was a telemarketer. Survivors include his wife, Linda; son, David; mother, Ilene Rainone; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Steve Levine. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)
