Cantorial Shabbat at St. Pete’s Chabad Jewish Center

Hazzan Yosef Lebovics Hazzan Yosef Lebovics Hazzan Yosef Lebovics will provide inspiration through music at a cantorial Shabbat on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12-13 at Chabad Jewish Center, 4010 Park St. in St. Petersburg.

He will lead the Friday night services at 6 p.m. and Shabbat dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Putting a twist on the Chabad Center’s Friday Night Live event, a Shabbat dinner will be served while Hazzan Lebovics inspires all with songs — both traditional and contemporary — and explain their origins.

Hazzan Lebovics, who will also lead services on Shabbat morning at 9:30 a.m., was born in Montreal in 1973 where his father and grandfather both served as cantors. He has been thrilling audiences with his singing since he was a young child.

He is an ordained rabbi, having studied in prestigious yeshivas in Montreal, New Jersey, France and New York.

Hazzan Lebovics serves as the Hazzan of the Synagogue of Inverrary Chabad in South Florida where he and his family moved in 1997. During the High Holidays he serves as Chief Cantor at the Chabad of Itaim, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
