Lisa Ling, human rights activist and journalist, will be the guest speaker at the Florida Holocaust Museum’s annual benefit, To Life: Shining Light on a Better World, on Thursday, Feb. 11.
Ling is a former co-host of The View, host of National Geographic Explorer, reporter on Channel One News, and special correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show and CNN. Ling’s sister, Laura, was one of two journalists detained by North Korea and then released after a personal intervention by former President Clinton.
The To Life event will be held at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts – Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. The evening will include cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and musical entertainment.
Following dinner, attendees will be seated in the auditorium for Ling’s talk on human rights.
Cost to attend the event is $150 per person and sponsorships are available.
Proceeds from the event will benefit education, exhibitions and programming at the museum, located in downtown St. Petersburg. The museum not only honors the memory of the millions who died and suffered in the Holocaust, but is also dedicated to teaching members of all races and cultures to recognize the dignity of human life in order to prevent future genocides.
